flamingoes

in this older photo http://www.zoochat.com/391/flamingoes-noumea-zoo-30312/ the birds appear to have had free range of the lake but they are now confined to this small enclosed aviary (along with a demoiselle crane). This is situated a very long way down from the visitor path and there is no close approach to it. I counted only eight birds total. They may be a mix of species as in the older photo the one on the right appears to be a Chilean flamingo but in this photo the two on the left look like greater flamingoes (and the one directly to their right looks like a Chilean)

August 2010. Review here: http://www.zoochat.com/92/parc-zoologique-et-forestier-169406/
