I initially thought they were Spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum) but unless spider plants have sharp, serrated edges on their leaves, I don't think they are what I think they are!

Tropical World, 27/10/2011.

I would say they are aspecies of terestrial bromeliad I would have to get my books out to check for sure or posibly an ornamental sedge, but the broms have it for me.

The spines on the leaf edges were the give away.
Oh, and I am familiar with the plant

@dean - note the size of this plant beside the other leaves in the picture. That would be quite a sedge!

I'm not so familiar with tropical flora as I am with my hardy bread and butter stuff, I assumed it was taken at ground level and was around 2 feet tall:o see know i have enlarged he shot it isn't! yes it would be a big sedge, even larger than carex pendula and and with shorter leaves.
At least we all knew it wasn't a chlorophytum far too upright for that spines or not
dean

Spiderplant, Spiderplant,
Does whatever a spiderplant can
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves just like flies
Look Out!
Here comes the Spiderplant.

Is he strong?
Listen Bill,
He's got radioactive chlorophyll.
Can he swing from a thread
Take a look overhead
Hey, there
There goes the Spiderplant.

In the chill of night
At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light
He arrives just in time.

Spiderplant, Spiderplant
Friendly neighborhood Spiderplant
Wealth and fame
He's ingnored
Action is his reward.

To him, life is a great big bang up
Whenever there's a hang up
You'll find the Spiderplant.
