does anyone know what this species is? if it helps it is in with a sulfur crested cockatoo, outside the green barn, and beside the entrance to the monkey/reptile house.

I think FBBird is right and it is an Umbrella Cockatoo, as the plumage is very white in colour. They may call it a 'Mollucan', or 'Salmon-crested' cockatoo though- that is a very similar species but which has an overall pink tinge to the plumage.
Umbrella is also known as Great White Cockatoo, if that helps. Molluccan is similar size & rounded crest shape, but with deep salmon pink crest and pink flush over the whole plumage. Both species can be very large and very loud.
