Joe the gorilla at Twycross Zoo, 14 September 2002

i never understood why 'Joe' didn't look like most silverbacks do- he lacked the heavy hair on his arms and the dipped back and grizzled silvery hair of most males.(compare with your photo of Mamfe). He looked more like a giant female. So does Pertinax, the oldest male at Paignton.

He does, he seems the wrong shape. I can't really remember seeing him, but he does look odd.
