None of the Great Ape enclosure are very good there, they really need to sort this out before spending money on a visitor centre!

But they will not do that! This and the other Ape enclosures could well remain as they are for years to come.:mad:

So, a photo in 2009 will be the same as this 1994 photo? The ape enclosures at Twycross are disgustingly bare.;)

Not exactly they have now added a children's climbing frame to it and got the army to build it for a free

pretty much so...the same short grass, the same trees -though with a few more nets and plastic hoses strung between them. As Taun says, the biggest change is an ugly very solid wooden climbing frame which the Orangs largely ignore and they still sit mostly on the ground.

To be fair, it is far bettwer now, bigger trees, lots of ropes and neting, barrells etc. Despite the poor enclosures for the great apes, they are some of the best cared for animals in Uk zoos. I dont think you can say the newest gorilla enclosure is poor tho, granted it has a waterfall, cave, and lots of climbing equip and room to run around. unfortunatly thelatter cannot be said for the other gorila house.

But I don't the gorillas would appreciate the waterfall at all ;). The main problem is the fact that it doesn't have any overhead cover which gorillas seem to appreciate. It is a decent size though.
