it doesn't look so bad in relation to his size now. I guess he's spending a lot of time outside during the daytime at present...
I've heard the House may stay closed to the public for several weeks as they are concerned the new male doesn't get overexcited by visitors and whack the glass.
It looks significantly smaller than it did last weekend, so I'm sure it's healing properly - which is really good news. But I guess Matadi is still being very cautious.
I'll bet he sits outside all day(as in this photo) continually watching the doors so that if Oumbi comes out from one, he will go straight inside through the other one. But things will relax over time I'm sure and in a few months they will be playing (I think).

I think he's sitting well away from the building because he feels safer that way and can't be taken by surprise whichever door the male comes out from. And if Oumbi trapped him outside he could always climb the outside equipment to escape too. But if he's showing respect/fear like this then I doubt Oumbi will bother with him again.
I went the other day and he does sit here watching the doors(in case Oumbi comes out) almost the whole time. I've posted some comments in the Twycross thread on the UK Forum.
