He was strutting round a lot today. Matabi is very wary of him and has some quite serious wounds on him. The girls kept out of his way too. he did the banging on the chest and slapping things as he was racing round. Certainly didnt seemed worried by his surroundings.

When I went a couple of weeks ago he came outside several times with the female Ozala following close behind. She stood or sat a few feet from him wherever he went outside, as if waiting on his every move. She followed him straight back inside too- she is 'fixed' on him it seems.
Yes still displaying, very impressive too, Ill post a few more pics of how he was behaving on this tread later this evening.
Yes the house is still closed too.

Different behaviour yesterday then, they were all wary of him, probably because he was charging round, but noticeably matabi was very careful to stay out of his way, his wounds on his back are quite significant.

On my visit,Matadi sat outside as far away from Oumbi as possible, and was watching the doors all the time. He would run straight inside if Oumbi came out. My guess is he is still behaving like this at the moment.
I found an interesting little photo on the Twycross website (news sheets section) which shows a newly arrived Oumbi standing in the outside enclosure and Matadi is closeby, apparently unafraid and looks as if he(Matadi) is swaggering near him- I think this must be before he got bitten and put in his place.
I've only seen him inside (sitting quietly and chewing up a cardboard box) by peering through the closed doors. And of course couldn't appreciate the size of him properly.
