Nice pic Tomzoo123,

Could you note down the number of these they keep on your next visit for me please?

@ tomzoo123 we were both wandering around the zoo on the same day, seeing as how few visitors were inthat day we must have seen one another and not realised,Nice pic .

@taun. yeah sure. im going on this Saturday coming up. I will check for you sure. I think they have quite a few. they have this guy in with another gibbon species and then theres an enclosure with 3 or 4 in i think. ill check for you to be sure though.

Cheers, if its the same Gibbon that is usually in that end enclosure am assuming its a female Lar/white handed Gibbon.

Thanks in advance
Taun

I think this is a young hand-reared male from the breeding pair . When I was last at Twycross late 2008 the pair were rearing a youngster in the 'Gibbon Nursery' . The young male was then housed with the very old female white-cheeked gibbon , one of the original Twycross gibbons , presumably she has now died if he is now with a lar gibbon .

ISIS lists them as having 3.2 so I assume that old female is still alive today then. I shall look through my photo's as I know I have a picture of a female gibbon in that enclosure which am sure was not a white-cheeked gibbon, she may have been moved now (which would be great because I don't like it when collections mix gibbons of a different species) and the white-cheeked gibbon female placed with this young male.

My pictures correspond with what you have said it was a female White-cheeked Gibbon in this enclosure.
