What a lovely animal! They aren't housed any where in the States. It's a shame.

That is surprising, given South America is their home.

Does seem odd. Is there a particular reason for their absence?

These days they're pleasingly common in UK/European collections. In the UK they can be seen at Twycross, Chester, Edinburgh, Marwell, Blackpool and Belfast, and Zootierliste lists a total of 49 European collections with the species.
