The keepers were trying to persuade the elephants to go over the bridge, which was liberally strewn with bananas. However, they would only go as far as they needed to reach the bananas and then reverse back to solid ground.

So this must have been very shortly after the new large grassy paddock extension was done and they were being introduced to using it.
