I always felt that Servals would have looked better there than Ground Hornbills (not enough height for the latter). This looks distressingly like the site of the Crane & Goose paddocks at London, taken down in 1991 and still sitting empty.
I wouldn't say great but I could see Ring-Tailed Lemurs doing alright in here if they added a bit more foliage in there and added a shaded bit for them. I'd take the ground hornbill, raven, or Serval over them any day, though.
It would be suitable for just about anything, bird or smaller mammal, if they rebuilt an enclosure here tailor -made for the species chosen. It seems so far it has just been deconstructed with the central supporting poles and small shelters just left in situ. It could stay like that for some time to come, given Twycross' current financial state.
I can't remember which Ground Hornbill they had, but the Raven would have
probably been the European species. The green enclosure next door houses the Tufted Deer.
Well agreed but I was talking more about if you left it more or less as it is.
The Tufted Deer is in that green fence thing with the wire on top? It looks like more of an enclosure for a condemned criminal or a dangerous predator (whose enclosure fence was built too low) than one for a deer...

It does doesn't it, but it's one of the most beautiful enclosures at Twycross. No concrete, no brick, just grass and trees.
Responding to your earlier post, I don't think Twycross have much choice that putting monkeys in enclosures like these. They're trying to get rid of the old houses I imagine! They could put lemurs in her or a small monkey species.
In that case I think IR's suggestions of Serval (or similar) would be very suitable.
There are some pretty ugly enclosures at Twycross- I can't remember what was in the green enclosure before the Tufted Deer but it wouldn't have been built for them. At the other end of the Zoo are some very bad Tapir enclosures(mostly empty I imagine as they recently lost their adults) with ugly fencing and indoor houses that really need erasing from the site.
