Benosaurus

Baikal Seal

No!
She was far more animated than the seals, at least during visiting hours.

Alan

I recall the seals were quite active on my visits, the langur - towards the end at least - was, as Dave states, usually sprawled on the floor of her house. Twycross even had a note up saying she had been ill and was sprawling because the floor was heated. It must have been a long bloody illness is all I can say!

And thanks Benosaurus, happy memories have been brought back through this photo. The pool appears far bigger than I remember though.

Of course, both the seals and the langur are species I dearly wish I could have seen, but what can you do? :p

the protuding rocks should be excellent belly scratches during shedding. Is the name of the facility actually unknown zoo.

I think the pool just appears large due to the size of the seal (they are tiny). Better to use the red fish-crate as scale.

Unknown Zoo

Anybody else remember seeing the Baikal Seals @ London Zoo, near the Children's Zoo if I remember rightly? Early 70s?

Yes, I remember seeing the Baikal seals at London Zoo; as you mentioned they were kept near the Children’s Zoo.

London Zoo’s first ever Baikal seals arrived in 1959 when four specimens were obtained.

I've just moved this photo to the correct gallery and renamed it (from "Unknown Zoo")

Go to Lake Baikal?

Didn't work for Chlidonias ;) though if *anyone* spotted Phayre's Langur at Lake Baikal it would be pretty newsworthy!

Of course, had my upcoming trip to Germany occurred 6 months prior, we would not be having this conversation now :p
