Absolutely splendid. The sight of this has cheered me up no end on a nasty Monday morning. This gives hope that there are still those who will go the extra mile to produce something special, and not just settle for minimalist functionality.Congratulations to those involved.

What's nice about is the way the exterior is all 1889 roccoco, in all its refurbished glory, and the inside is a series of densley-planted softbill avaries, offering a perfect habitat for its feathered residents. And they look great together. Superb.

Waddesdon's not a big collection, but the contribution it has made to softbill breeding in the UK in recent years is incredible.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this not the peacock aviary that was shown at last years chelsea flower show but for that it was just the frame filled with seating and plants ? very nice !

It couldn't be the exact same aviary, as this one has been in place since 1889 and is a permanent installation. It could be a copy, though.

I think this is the aviary that inspired the chelsea flower show garden?

Most of us at Zoochat would be interested principally in the bird collection, but of course Waddesdon is also of interest due to the Rothschild family connection. This style of aviary does not come cheap & can not be done with a couple of rolls of chicken wire!
