Unfortunately his companion Joey died recently . He seemed happy enough interacting with a member of staff , who said he is very habituated to humans , unlike Joey .
So So sad, I worked with Joey and Tubs for 10 years during the 90's at Mole Hall. Joey was a great chimp, kind, gentle and very loving.
The old keepers and owners at Mole Hall had to find out he died 3rd hand over a week later which is heart breaking!
It was Cefn-yr-Erw's chimp now, so really upon his death there is no reason why they 'have' to tell anyone that it died, all who needs to know Why/When/Whatever is the facility the animal has died in and the local legeslative body.
I have a feeling you have joined this forum only to air your complaint, this forum is not for you to get back at Cefn-yr-Erw over a matter that, quite frankly is none of your business now.
Some of these chimps are so long lived( almost sad really).. I saw this one and the other 'Joey' at Mole Hall Zoo- my only visit there which was so many years ago now I can't even remember the place. This old chimp was already an adult then, yet he is still going strong..
I believe Tubman was born in 1968. He was hand-reared and brought up as a pet until he got too big to handle safely, which explains why he is so humanised. It was good he got on so well with Joey, because his original two (female) companions at Mole Hall used to bully him.
