I realised after I had posted that I had worded my post wrong Happens sometimes when my brain gets a little foggy. I believe it was mentioned on here somewhere that they had come from Colchester, which is where I got the wrong end of the stick. It does seem odd that an establishment like Colchester would send its animals to a sanctuary.
Its not the size of the enclosure, its the fact its badly designed and and badly perched.
Do these people actually know anything about primates? This is a badly run zoo, mascarading as some bleeding heart sanctuary. I thought zoo licensing would put an end the this sort of dreary side show
It saddens me to think that my brothers (my name for primates) are kept in such conditions! I realise it is very small, and I also realise the background of these animals (posts above) yet with minor adjustments this could be much better, Im not saying good, just better.
For example more planting, long grasses, more climbing oportunites. Thick bamboo twigs behind three of the sides to provide a more secure environment. Its not hard and I think this place could turn itself around.
Id be happy to donate materials to be used in enclosures, although I have not visited, will do so later this year!
I saw Black Mangabeys (a pair if I remember rightly) at Colchester in 1994 (they were housed opposite the Colobus Monkeys in the then brand new "Out of Africa" development, which is still there), but I think they died not all that long afterwards.

I remember seeing them at Colchester too. Bristol also had a group around that time too. But nowadays these two males are the only ones listed for the UK.
Please tell me this is a holding area. If this is a sanctuary(usually meant to inprove the well being of animals), I don't want to see where these were kept for this to be classed as a improvement

How about you read the previous posts and you'll find out
Honestly I'm ok with putting primates in cages as it gives them more climbing opportunities and gives them more enrichment although these cages are just way too small. I think this would be ok for a tamarin or a marmoset, not a mangabey.
