Am i right in saying this area was orginally for African Lions?

I think it was Riziki although I think it is more suited towards tigers

It was African Lions when I first started visiting.

Thanks Maguari i think they had quite a big group of lions. It does seem more suited to tigers i agree but it could of looked different to what it is now.
Have the tigers ever bred here?

It didn't! The house was rebuilt for the tigers but the paddock has scarcely changed at all!

Is it more planted than this? I remember it being quite planted up and we could see much in there but this was 14 odd years ago now

As a side note, if London were to build an enclosure for their tigers in the North gardens, then they could use this as a base model (due to the gradient) but would need "glamorising" a bit

Yeap, housed Lions until about roughly 2001. I myself only remember seeing a pair of them. I like this enclosure myself, but wish it could be just a bit bigger.
