Crowned Plover - Welsh Mountain Zoo

Looks like the head of a crowned Plover.

Yes I was just checking on zootierliste, the name plover rings a bell, and whilst searching "Plover" I found this:

This species looks very similiar to the bird I saw at WMZ but the zoo is not listed with the species!

Im going to change it too Crowned Plover, as the two birds are practically the same.

Crowned Lapwing is another name for the crowned plover.

Odd - second time in less than a week that plover vs. lapwing has come up on here!

Lapwing and Plover are pretty much interchangeable in the names of Vanellus species such as this. It is indeed a Crowned Lapwing (Vanellus coronatus - I go with Lapwing for Vanellus because the 'type' species, Vanellus vanellus is always called a lapwing).
