Which in my opinion is a good thing a bigger herd of these would be an impressive sight at West Mid's, I think it's a group of 1.2 plus the offspring (0.2 born in 2009/10 and another 0.0.1 born in 2011/12).
Are they still next to the rhino house? If so then they may need a bigger enclosure as it's not really designed for a herd. If memory serves me correctly it was built for just 2 bulls which occasionally rotated with the tahki.
It's been about 12 months since my last visit so things may have changed since then though. WMSP like to mix things up once in a while...
EDIT:- Just noticed the wall at the back, definitely the same enclosure so are they looking cramped in there now?

If I remember correctly it did house two bulls, originally some Przewalski's Horse' were kept there. I believe then one of them was sent to another collection (Afaik) and West Mid's imported two females from South Africa about five or six years ago. They only start breeding however three or four years ago as I know they had two female offspring from the original group. The herd is building up which is always pleasant to see don't see big Cape Buffalo herds nowadays however, I suspect they maybe looking at moving two of the young females out because they maybe able to breed with there father. They certainly won't be able to stay where they are if they keep breeding.
Thanks for the info guys, I really need to get there soon as it's been far too long between visits.
I think the buffalo should be moved to a larger enclosure soon, maybe one with some grazing oppurtunities...
