what was it like for you, seeing wild kea for the first time? I'm used to them of course, but for visitors - even those of a birdy persuasion - it must be really weird seeing parrots running around in the mountains.
Well, I was first off the coach when the tour manager said we'd see Keas at this spot First time I'd seen them anywhere. I thought they were utterly charming but, to to be honest, in a way it wasn't as though I was seeing them in the wild. There were so many people there and the Keas were so tame and, in the case of this little chap, ringed, that it was more like seeing them in a zoo. But I was glad to get a couple of photos of them against a mountainous, snowy background just to prove that they are what they are.
