P P PAT 10 Mar 2012 Is roseate cockatoo a common name for this species in England? I've only ever known them as galahs.
Hix 10 Mar 2012 Only in Australia are they called galahs. The rest of the world know them as Roseate or Rose-breasted Cockatoos.

P P PAT 10 Mar 2012 How bizarre! I do love them though. I even have one, although he lives at my parents because I can't have pets where I'm living.

Parrotsandrew 10 Mar 2012 More and more people in the UK are calling them Galahs, but I stick with Roseate Cockatoo. There are quite a few other Australian psittacines with a different common name (or more often used alternative name) here than in their native land.
