if an emu can inflict the same damage as a cassowary then why do we let people walk in with them. even the most doile emu can attack. healsville keeps them behind a fence, i think this is a good idea becuase a keeper can't be surpervising the unruly public 24/7.
although most emus would not attack and are just curious. i think there is more of a risk in letting a person walk in with lemurs and monkeys than with a emu.
This one has been known to charge people who were just walking along the path. It's far more intimidating than any other Emu I've known - and I know at least one person who's had it charge at him at full speed (and impact!).
Yes indeed you do and i don`t know which was more surprised me or the Emu,actually i don`t know how South lakes get away with it because the staff only let him out if he doesn`t charge at them in the morning at least thats what i was told by the owner when i raised the matter with him.
