Maguari 30 Dec 2010 Thanks! There's something very beguiling about Dusky Lories - the colours are fascinating.
Maguari 30 Dec 2010 They are indeed. Woburn's lory/lorikeet feeding aviary is unusual in that these guys are the major species - there were more of these than the Rainbow Lorikeets and Red Lories combined at my last visit.

Maguari 30 Dec 2010 Thanks all! @adrian - Shaldon certainly have them, and they were among the hundreds of parrots at Loro Parque. Had a quick Zootierliste check are there are 15 European zoos listed with the species: ZootierlisteHomepage In the UK: Woburn, Shaldon, Tropical Birdland (Desford) and the National Parrot Sanctuary. Probably some in private hands as well, I'd imagine.

mstickmanp 31 Dec 2010 Very beautiful bird! I wonder if any North American zoos keep this species. EDIT: ISIS shows that 12 facilities (11 in the US, 1 in Mexico) keep this species.
