The small bird avairy is now empty pending redevelopment. One Guayaquil Squirrel was visible in (and around - the cheeky thing!) the exhibit on the end - this is also due to be replaced.

Both of these exhibits were inherited from the Shire Horse Centre days.

Was there any indication as to the type of redevelopment for the avairy?
A few bird species dotted around the park wouldn't go amiss I don't think.

@ max - nothing, I'm afraid, just that it will be redeveloped (which could mean anything!)

@ UrMumzAGoat - various small aviary birds - mostly pet shop stuff - colour morphs of budgies, cockatiels, Java Sparrows etc. No great loss, to my mind.

Thats a very imposing litterbin..

I didn't realise they were a Shire Horse Centre previously. It would make getting their permission for a Wildlife Park easier than if it was never used for animal display before. Do you know if its the same owners/management, or new people?

They're new people (ex-Woburn, if I'm right).

Some of the animals are hangovers from the previous owners - the female Red Deer, the Emu and the Raccoon Dogs certainly are (I understand from speaking to staff the new owners were expecting to find raccoons, assuming 'raccoon dogs' on the list was an error given how unusual the species is in the UK, so had rather a pleasant surprise!).

Should know what they are doing then and it seems so from the way they have developed so far.

Unusual for them to have the Raccoon dogs- it seemed a strange choice but their history partly explains it.

Do you believe the Squirrels will come back on show in the near future? I would really like to see them.
