With the move to the new pen, the distinctly un-guanaco-looking animal has been officially demoted to Llama and sent to the World's Farm paddock!

Is there an information sign along that stand-off fence somewhere? I do think that guanaco are a species which really does need an information sign as to the regular zoo visitor they are just llamas (or in some horriffic cases of mistaken identity CAMELS if you know what I mean).

Yes, about where the family at the right are standing.

Incidentally, I love the idea of a stand-oo fence. A fence behind which you are safe to stand and utter expressions of surprise and pleasure? ;)

Again it looks smartly laid out like the Tigers. Is the actual fence just tapes on poles rather than traditional fencing? If so, its a good way of costcutting as obviously Guanaco are hardly any more lethal than sheep...;)

Yep - nice, straighforward and cost-effective. It's a good-sized paddock too; I wasn't sure it would be before they cleared the scrub away but it's turned out very nicely.

And I'm glad they've booted out the llama! ;)

Looking at the tape like fencing looks simular to electric tape fencing like used for horses,,,

Maguari, did you touch it?:D

I didn't, as it happens! Partly because, well, why would I?! Partly because I also suspect they are electric. :D
