Ahhhh, suppose that makes sense! Just thought it's an unusual combination. Surely the red deer could deserve their own paddock as they're not exactly a domestic species. I know there are deer farms but i personally think it feels a bit like cheating. I guess it saves on space though.
There's only one female Red Deer - she was already on site (along with the Emu and Raccoon Dogs, a remnant of the former Shire Horse Centre) when the current owners took over.
I actually think it's rather a nice idea - shows off the diversity of domestic animals pretty effectively withot them taking over the whole park.
Or without the need to cram them all into a "childrens zoo" where they get no space to move which is often the case. I have noticed that domestics do get shafted at a lot of collections. Banhams heavy horses being a notable exception to the rule!
I suppose it is quite a good idea really, I was just a bit puzzled by the variety at first!
