Thank-you Maguari, I do! It was only by chance I have just discovered it as it was on the top of the UK page. Following my euphoric visit to the Tropical Butterfly House a fortnight ago I was thinking I should maybe go there again rather than to the YWP this year, but now I am not sure. I did not realise the YWP was now flying Macaws in a display as I have seen only the hybrid in the "Animals Up Close" feature on my visits (I have not been since 30th April last year).
I did still see the hybrid; it was sat on a stick near the show animal enclosures. They have a pair of Blue-and-Yellows - only flew one in the show I watched but they may well alternate. I didn't actually stay to the end of the show, in fairness - I watched sections with Barn Owl, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw, Striped Skunk and Burrowing Owl, then they started on a lengthy, animal-free 'volunteer from the audience' section so I made a discreet exit! (the main reason I went to watch the show was to see if I could see a skunk, as I hadn't seen one at YWP previously - I tend to be quite selective with demonstrations)
Glad you like the photo - thought of you as soon as they brought the bird out!
Thank-you for thinking of me! I think I should make a similar exit at the same stage of the display. Last year as I was cycling off along the cyclist/pedestrian track I did see someone carrying two Blue and Yellow Macaws, presumably to their night quarters. I thought it was odd they spent the day hidden from visitors, but obviously people can see them now. Was the display broadened later last year, or is it something new this year?
