I suppose that makes sense. I wondered why they were going to all the trouble of making fake rock when they have the machinery and room to just bring some large boulders in whilst the new enclosure is under construction. Hopefully it will keep the little fella's out on view on the cooler days. I actually enjoy watching the mongoose more than the meerkats so I hope they retain them also.
Did you notice how they intend to allow access from the further enclosure into the "house". Is there going to be a tunnel as it looked like there was no direct route into there over-night accommodation.
The keeper I spoke with mentioned that there were tunnels connecting the enclosures to the night quarters.
Mongoose are still part of the display and will be moving in along with the meerkats.
There is also talk of African spurred tortoise being added to the display, but there are concerns about how they will mix with the mongoose.
