Malini

Malini arrived at the Zoo in August 1961 and this photo was probably taken around that time... She was a gift from the Indian Government... She was brought over as a companion to Jamuna who died less than three years later...

I have very little information about Malini, I think she is quite young here but IIRC she was also a small elephant... The zoo elephant database may have more info on her...

@Goretex Malini died 27/02/1971. She was estimated to be born 1953, which would make her eight years old in this photo. Personally, I think she looks more like four to six years old; but it could be that she was just small for her age?
