The whicker construction is a living willow tunnel in the shape of a snake or crocodile (cant remember which.) I hope it gets relocated as it will compromise the size of the otter enclosure.
The heaps of soil aren't actually from any excavation work on the Giant otter enclosure. They are from the toilet block that's just been nearly finished,part of the underground septic tank or pipework I think.
The area in question used to be a sort of picnic area but used to become waterlogged or boggy at the slightest bit of rain.
