Well given that this sign will have cost about £30 pound to produce, while all the others round the place will have cost atleast £50 to produce and that would be about the cost for a sign half the size of this,of the previous design that they have used! Also the material used on this sign is used in the trade for very short term outdoor use,due to it not being very durable and the fact it is very easy to damage!
It is indeed the construction that is low quality, but then it fits perfectly with the low quality of enclosure and house they have built for this species.Pains me to say this but this enclosure is to me even worse than the Giant Otter enclosure at South Lakes!

From the photos on the gallery this enclose at YWP doesn't look great. It looks very bare and could do with more foliage in my opinion. I may be wrong but didn't they receive the otters earlier than they were expecting and could this possibly be a reason for the less than perfect enclosure? With regards the giant otters at South Lakes, what are your objections with their enclosure? I have seen it first hand and thought it was pretty good, the animals certainly seemed to be enjoying it whilst I viewed them anyway.

With regards to SLWAP the outdoor enclosure is okayish but the pool is too shallow,in the ideal world it would be about another 3 foot in depth, but overall the whole outdoor enclosure should be atleast twice the size it is.As for the indoors its all tiled and they only have 1 pool that is about the same size,as just one of the pools indoors at YWP and that is just not good enough.

Photos and the timeframe of the build/arrival of the Otters indicate you may be correct here and that this enclosure was rushed, the basic cause of its shortcomings, and hence the negative comments.
Regarding the indoor pools- it looks like they may be pre-formed(?) so they 'made do' by giving them two small ready-made ones instead of the longer time/cost of constructing one better quality decent-sized one. Its not what you expect from here IMO.
Or its a case of what happens when your superb builders walk off-sight,part way through the build and refuse to come back.I think the builders that finished this should not be allowed to build another exhibit at YWP but as there previous builders are now working on the Malayan Tiger enclosure at Hamerton, and are not coming back anytime soon I suspect we can expect to see lower quality enclosures at YWP than we did before!
