Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see him as I was five years old when he died.

He was hugely famous as for many years he was the oldest of just 2 0r 3 fully adult male Gorillas in the UK. He wasn't enormous by Gorilla standards but always in tiptop condition. Sadly he had become so humanised from living alone so long, that by the time they got him a mate, he was unable to father offspring.

I think the female Lomie that they got as his mate was sent to Bristol for breeding

Indeed. She went twice. First baby was London's, second baby was Bristol's. Her first (daughter) by the Bristol male 'Samson' is 'Salome'- she is one of Bristol's two current adult females- though she has spent most of her life previously at London Zoo and then Chessington.

Baby from 2nd visit was 'Saul'(Male) he went to Singapore but died there.

After Guy died, Lomie was sent on long term loan to Howletts (a rare example of a London/Howletts liason) and had two more babies there. Both died adult.

Her fifth baby was born at Chessington where she was moved from Howletts. This was a female 'Shani'- now grandmother of the baby born there last year. Lomie died at Chessington, which is where London got her from in the first place.
