Whale Skeleton in the Coast at Te Wao Nui, Auckland Zoo

This massive sculpture is a new addition to the Coast, a pre-existing area of Te Wao Nui. Visitors walk-through the rib cage as they enter the first part of the NZ precinct. Other parts of the skeleton present include a skull (partially visible behind the gate) and some tail bones out of shot to the left.

Are those real whale bones? I wonder what species of whale they are from? where did they get the bones?

I don't think they would be real, they look fake to me. Probably much cheaper and more reliable (as a structure).

the phrase "massive sculpture" kind of gives it away really....
