Panay cloud rat

Crateromys heaneyi. I made an extra visit to the Night Life section (formerly Moonlight World) in the middle of the day to try to see a cloudrunner. I wish the photo were better, but at least I saw the species for the first time. Clore Pavilion, London ZSL, 15th August 2010

BTW why is this species lumbered with such a silly name? As I was taking photos a nice lady asked me what it was (as the label was attached to cage next door, which was linked to the one we were viewing). I gave the truthful answer 'It's a Panay cloudrunner' but then I felt obliged to apologise for giving such a silly answer to a sensible question
I almost wanted to say 'It's giant rat of Sumatra - the subject of the Sherlock Holmes story that Dr Watson could not write, because the world was not yet ready. . .'
