I think they only used the indoor bit, sort of sat there for a few years and then died.

From the time, and the cage furniture in the photograph, I believe this outdoor exhibit housed a pair of red ruffed lemurs for a time. I suspect they were the pair previously held in the indoor exhibit on the Sobell, roughly the first one visitors would see and adjacent to the golden lion tamarins indoor quarters.

The binturong, koala, aye-aye, were all held in the indoor section of the roundhouse only. It is unclear now whether there are any aye-aye left inside the (closed) house, as photos exist of at least one ZSL aye-aye in the Clore (possibly the closed wing).

Sorry - scrub the word 'bear'- it conjures up images of them diving into water after fish and obviously Koalas don't do that.

Koalas would never find the energy to dive anywhere after anything; they are tired enough, without that level of exertion...

i have a guidebook from 1991 stating that the koala were allowed out during the warmer weather days?

Thats probably right. Edinburghs Koalas get put out on warm days.
When I say put out they get placed on some branches out door to sleep on.
Then they get taken back in to some branches to sleep on.

^hahaha, so true, it also states 'Come and see the koala at the roundhouse' and makes no mention of any other species being kept in another part of the house at anytime.
