Thanks for posting all of the photos of the new Penguin Beach exhibit, and it never ceases to amaze me how fast ZooChatters upload photos from recently opened animal habitats. Today there are new shots from both London Zoo and Taronga Zoo. Cheers guys!
The whole area of the exhibit is fox-proof with electric fencing and the gates closed at night rather than the penguin area itself being fox-proof. I have passed by after closing time and no penguins were to be seen which suggests they have a night time holding area but I have no idea what this is like.
would be nicer to see some more unusual + larger species in here (although macaroni arn't all that common in the uk) King, Gentoo and Chinstrap would be nice

Macaronis are very unusual in European zoos - a quick check of Zootierliste shows only four zoos currently keep them - London, Living Coasts, Selwo (Malaga) and Antwerp.
That's only two more than Chinstrap (Loro Parque and Faunia) and a good deal fewer than Kings (17 collections) and Gentoos (20 collections).
And note that although Macaronis are not common in the UK, they are at least twice as common here as any other European country!
