Gaur and calf London Zoo 28 Spetember 1985

1.1 Gaur (Bos gaurus) and 1.0 calf. Cotton Terraces, London Zoo.
Wow, three Gaurs at London zoo, bet they were the only ones in the UK

Chester had a single male in 1985 and John Aspinall had some at Howletts at one time. Chester received a male in October 1983 which was the first one bred in the UK. His name was Blake and he came from London, sadly he did not live very long. He was replaced by a second male in 1986. He died in 1987.

Edinburgh are having some this year

Do you know why not?:(. Are they still in the zoo masterplan? such a shame, a wonderful species, full of character. One of the few 'abc' zoo animals I haven't seen (obviously having a very wide span for what you could call abc zoo animals.) Shame there's only one UK zoo with them

But it happens to be one of the closest to where you live- only in the next county.
