Chlidonias
is the house spider Tegeneria? They are scary! When I was in England many years ago I had to go into the kitchen to remove a spider, and I thought no problem, only to find a slavering beast the size of your average Saint Bernard glowering at me from under the fridge.

Do you have huntsmans in New Zealand Chlidonias? I think they've prepared me for anything the rest of the world can throw at me.

not in the south, only up round Auckland (where they call them Avondale spiders, and where Hollywood got their spiders from for Arachnophobia)

It is indeed a Tegenaria, though not a particularly large one!

Avondale spider sounds much nicer...at least with huntsman you know what to expect.
