It has been reported on one of the other threads that Kesho has since left ZSL London for Longleat to be apart of a new bachelor group for them. He will be joined by his younger brothers Alf and Evindi. Their father, Horst/Harry is known to look rather depressed. Lena the trio's mother has had five offspring and only one of them was female. Dublin's other breeding female has had the only other female offspring born in that group. Manyani who is the other female was imported from the Stuttgart 'Nursery' group about four or five years ago.
Harry/Horst does frequently hold his hand to his ear, which can be a sign of inner trauma in some Gorillas- but others seem to do it for no apparent reason. Harry was mother-raised in the group at Frankfurt so there is no evident poor background and he is a normal silverback in other ways apart from that behaviour. I think Kesho and Harry look very alike.
Does anyone know if ZSL made any public mention of Kesho leaving- e.g. on their website or other notification?

I have not seen any mention of Kesho's leaving. Looks as though he has as you say 'left via the backdoor'. I agree with your comment he does look very a like to his father 'Harry/Horst'.
I love this photo. It looks like a still from an action movie and he's bursting through something solid like a sheet metal wall. Just like a more powerful version of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Not only have ZSL made no mention of Kesho leaving at all he is still listed as part of the group on their website. They have removed all traces of him on the signs in the enclosure though.
I suspect they have said nothing about his departure to prevent any adverse publicity about them splitting him and the females up. Though they do have a perfectly good reason for doing it, some public opinion might not see it that way.
Or to avoid the newspaper headline; 'Killer Gorilla leaves London Zoo'
