Of all the species that have gone from London in the last thirty years, Mandrills strike me as one of the most regrettable. Marvellous exhibits, in great conservation need, few held in the UK, and they bred well at London. I wish they would be brought back.
Agree, they were a sad loss. If you see the big groups at Colchester or Chester you can see what a good display they would have continued to make at ZSL if they had been allowed to stay and multiply further. Just one more bad decision.
