Incidentally one of the volunteers said he weighs 185 kg (408 lb), but they expect him to grow a little more. Actually I think that his current weight is more or less ideal.

At 15+ he's a fully mature male- whereas 'Kesho' at around 11 wasn't quite. He will put on more weight as he gets older but he won't change much otherwise. They seem to like the idea that he's 'young'- I would equate 15 years in Gorilla terms with about that of a 25 year old man.
re the photo-I agree it doesn't do him justice- I remember some years back they published a rather similar postcard,of a male(Jeremiah?) with a banana stuffed in his mouth- very unnattractive!
Poor Jeremiah- one of the strangest and most unfortunate Gorillas I ever knew. Desocialised, inbred, cross-eyed, webbed toes, bad health, runny nose, the list is endless. I actually think he may have been mentally retarded too(even for a Gorilla!)
