I have to say I don't much like all the sacking 'drapes' in the ZSL indoor area. Each zoo comes up with its own different 'enrichment' and cage furnishings obviously, but this particular arrangement frequently hides the Gorillas. I realise it allows them some privacy too if they want it, but it does look very 'messy'- there are other more attractive ways of providing climbing and resting/retreat areas- even a slight reduction in the amount of this sacking stuff would help a bit- it never used to look like this.
It does have a rather 'Miss Havisham' look about it. Kumbuka was easy to spot when I arrived, sitting in the corner at the front, and Mjukuu was close by, watching him adoringly. But it took me a while to realise that Zaire and Effie were up amongst the drapery.
