In my humble opinion, one of the world's most beautiful birds when in flight - in the wild. They seem to do well in zoos, but I haven't seen them in a really large aviary where this beauty could really be seen.
For a group which one would expect to be quite 'aerial', they are remarkably good aviary subjects. There is a quite well-known case of a man in the South of England back in the early 1980s who bred two broods of three each, Lilac-breasted, in what was effectively a small back garden aviary.
