West wing of the main building. Apologies as phone photos. There's also a new small nocturnal section at the far end if you turn right. Straight on leads to the rest of the main building. Behind is the outdoor area.

Thanks for the photos! This is not what I was expecting at all!

Just to check I'm orientating myself correctly, the outdoor enclosure is between the Clore and the hippos - is that right?

Do you know what species are in the new nocturnal section?

Yes it is between the Clore (which it is attached to) and the hippos.

When facing east in the new nocturnal section there are two enclosures, one of which I think was Australian jumping rats and the other was I think something else I'd seen elsewhere there, sorry. :o I was more interested in the aye-aye enclosure which was one enclosure which faced you south and west (it wrapped around a corner) which looked finished and had an aye-ayes coming soon sign on it.

I understand it will be about six weeks, they've got to finish off building, I think the gentle lemur outdoor area (which I think is off show?) before they move the aye-ayes in, with aye-ayes being the delicate things they are!

Running down the side and along the top of this photo are the runs which connect the ring-tailed lemurs and the black and white lemur with their indoor enclosures and the outside walk-though. Nicely done.

Their enclosures all have small gaps in the wall which means they can also move between enclosures next to each other, the only exception is the gentle lemurs enclosure which hasn't got a wall gap or a connection to the runs.

Thanks - sounds like a good addition in the end - may not be exciting rare species on all fronts but it could have been much less interesting than it is!

Lesser Hedgehog Tenrec, Malagasy Giant Jumping Rat, and eventually Aye-Aye :)

Quite a makeover for this section of the Clore. I remember some years ago seeing this part full of Golden Lion Tamarins.
