Black Kites bred in the Southern Aviary at least once. I remember Grey Herons in there, with wild ones nesting on the roof outside, Pacific Brent Geese, Gannets and latterly, a small group of Rockhopper
Penguins. There may also have been Antarctic Skuas, certainly a number of ducks were kept there too. Thus aviary of course backed on to the Sealion a Pond, and the two enclosures shared the two faces of a rock edifice. Komodo enclosure is good, but I miss the Southern Aviary, while agreeing that it's lack of shelter or shut-off facilities were a drawback.
