It is probably Sam Morton- he was the experienced keeper most involved with her. He was also the 'mas' (sam' backwards) in the Polar bear cub's name 'Brumas'
It does look similar, coincidentally even the wall with windows is alike. But I think Dublin's enclosure is smaller and on a steeper hill and no trees behind the wall? Still pretty sure it is ZSL.
Just crosschecked this enclosure with the old Dublin one and there are so many similarities. The size and shape, the steep grassy slope with the central wooden structure, the building at rear, the large trees to back right and the stepped down glass panels to the right. Almost sure the Pandas were temporarily housed here in 1986.
Still I suppose a lot of older enclosures would have been built to a similar plan, which is interesting also.
@Pertinax. just seen your reply and would agree that its probably just a strong lookalike enclosure. There is an old pic on the Dublin gallery in zoochat for comparison. While searching for detail I was surprised how hard it was to find info/pics to verify either way.
DublinLion/Pertinax - we have established it is 100% London Zoo, the pandas that were briefly held at Dublin were there in 1986, no earlier. My photo was taken in the 1960s.
Not quite, I don't think. However, the old Britain's Indian Rhino (both plastic and metal) was modelled from a rhino called Jim, and looking at 'London Zoo in Old Photographs' it looks as though the adult Hippo was as well. I'm referring to the series I collected as a kid, no idea if they are still going.
