Sierra Leone striped squirrel 1976

Funisciurus pyrropus leonis. Clore Pavilion, London ZSL, 19th September 1976. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide. These squirrels were descended from specimens brought back to Jersey from Sierra Leone by Gerald Durrell.

These squirrels were descended from specimens brought back to Jersey from Sierra Leone by Gerald Durrell.

Thank you for posting these; photos of some of the more obscure mammals kept at London Zoo in the relatively recent past are fascinating to see.

I'm glad you like them sooty. I still have a few mammal photos to scan and quite a lot of birds :)
