I'm not sure what has been going on with their Rockhopper group - ISIS shows it down to around 2 birds left. A couple of years ago they were breeding every year, but every time a chick was raised it seemed to disappear while another Rockhopper appeared with the London group. I suspect they were moving all the chicks to London, only most have gone from there too. If this was the case, it would have been better to allow the group to build up numbers at Whipsnade, now they've virtually all gone.
Furthermore, the 0.4 Gentoo Penguins which arrived in spring 08 now seem to be down to 0.1.

This is by far my favorite penguin exhibit I've ever been to. My family went to England in 1999 for vacation and I'm so glad I was able to get to Whipsnade, whic was on my must-see list.
