Wolverine enclosure (a work still in progress)

They are probably going like the clappers to have this ready for the weekend. So long as there's a Wolverine actually in there, or it looks as if there could be... people can't complain that the exhibit isn't completed as advertised- even if they don't see the Wolverine.

What's the new looking area with small pine trees behind- is it just background planting ?

It is a very large enclosure they could probably get away with it for years not actually putting the animal in it!!! Its a standing joke with my partner that I have never seen a single bear at Chester but if he goes alone it is always visible!! Luckily its a very attractive enclosure!!

They have densely planted up either side of the entrance to the bridge, will look very attractive when finished. They have also put some pine trees in the enclosure.

They seem to be doing a lot of landscaping they have put loads of saplings in by the look out cafe!! I would give up if I was them if they are hoping to create a wind break!!

The Spectacled Bears at Chester seem to be one of their most invisible species judging from comments on the Forum- the other is the Bornean Orangs.

I imagine not too many people will see the Wolverine(s) even when this enclosure is finished and matured. Where exactly is this enclosure- is it near the bear 'bridge' then?

It is the old stork and wallaby enclosure opposite the bears. They have put up new fencing all around with electric fencing on the bridge side and then a wooden viewing fence on the bridge. So you are basicly looking down!

Not the whole enclosure surely? Its a big enclosure(or was) It used to be called 'Flintpit' Paddock and held the herd of Axis Deer many years ago. How times change...

I had an excellent view of the wolverine at Whipsnade today; it was very active around 4:00pm.

I’ve not visited the Cotswolds Wildlife Park since wolverine arrived there, so this Whipsnade animal was the first wolverine I’ve seen in England for many years; the last one I saw in England was in the old North Mammal House at London Zoo decades ago.

I would say it is the same size as the stork/wallaby enclosure, its huge!!

Thankyou. It is a pretty huge area then. Tim May posts above that he has seen the Wolverine in the enclosure so they managed to get it finished in time- probably the Wolverine was introduced just in time for Easter....;)
