First time i have seen the housing for gaur at Whipsnade, and judging from this and other pictures it does not look too bad, fair sized paddock, decent enough housing and separation facilities, the perfect set up for a fairly decent sized herd, if the will is there at Whipsnade.
It was previously used for Indian rhinos. It's a reasonable size, but very bare. Gaur are woodland animals and I think they would look much better in a grassed paddock with some mature trees. I would love Whipsnade to build up a herd and house them like this.

So would I. It would be a great display and unique in the UK. This enclosure is very bare and uninspiring. One ideal location for them would be where the original Indian rhino paddock was as that area is shady and surrounded by trees rather like a woodland glade. Unfortunately it is now near their 'Africa' zone, not Asian.
Near to the Giraffes ( on the zoo entrance side of their paddock.). There is now a large grassy area which gives no indication it used to be a paddock as the fencing and sheds have all gone.
