This is an okay area for the lynx and the cave is really nice for them. Although there's quite a few trees I do wish there was a bit more cover for these lynxes but I suppose it is a brand new enclosure
If they had sited this enclosure under the mature trees nearby, there would have been plenty more ready made cover, overhead at least, for the Lynx and so a more natural display. As it is its always going to be an open enclosure with a few sapling trees and bushes which won't change much though obviously the grass will grow much longer given time.

Unless I'm mistaken, this enclosure is an adaptation of the old cheetah exhibit on this site and not a new build. This may explain the more open aspect.

Okay, that makes far more sense! You mean the old Cheetah enclosure that is quite near the entrance? So they didn't build a new enclosure for Lynx, hence why its where it is! Now I see....

Yup, that's the one. The budget for Wild Wild Whipsnade was not huge, so I can understand not wanting to tear down a medium-sized-cat exhibit just to build a medium-sized-cat exhibit!

No it clearly wasn't big. All done just with deer and pig fencing and wooden stakes, and some sheet metal and chainlink(?) for the Wolverines!
plus some signposting (not forgetting the little cave for the Lynx...)
Clever way of producing a new range of exhibits though.
Oh, absolute genius. As you say, a bare minimum of construction gives four major new species (Moose, Wild Boar, Wolverine, and European Lynx) and a new lease of life to four existing exhibits (for Brown Bear, Grey Wolf, European Bison and Reindeer) as well as creating a whole new themed area of the zoo.
And the signage is really good.
Aside from the name, I think 'Wild Wild Whipsnade' is rather a triumph given it's clearly low budget.
